Grimselpass

Grimselpass (English: Grimsel Pass) is a mountain pass road, passing between canton of Bern and canton of Valais.
At a height of 2,165 meters, the highest point of the pass, there is a parking area on the shore of lake Totensee (English: Dead Lake).
Down at the Bern side of the pass the road meets the Susten Pass road.
Down at the Valais side of the pass, at the tiny town of Gletsch, the Grimsel Pass road connects to the Furka Pass road.

Gletsch

The tiny town Gletsch name come from the word Glacier (German: Gletscher).
In the past the Rhone Glacier (German: Rhonegletscher) was much larger than today, nearly reaching down to Gletsch.
